Orlando, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis players posted three victories in Saturday’s matches at the USTA Clay Court Invitational being conducted at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports in Orlando.

The team of senior Jose Fantova and sophomore Will Neuner advanced to Sunday’s semifinals following an 8-2 triumph over a tandem from Georgia Tech. The Owls’ duo will now face a team from Florida State University.

In singles play, Neuner advanced to the finals of his consolation bracket after his opponent from Tulsa withdrew because of an injury. He is preparing to play Florida State’s Michael Rinaldi on Sunday.

Sophomore Sean Bacha earned a straight-set victory in consolation singles action over UCF’s Matthew Gladstone. Bacha won a first set tiebreaker 7-4 before coming out on top in the competitive second set 7-5. He will face Duke University’s Dan McCall in the final of his bracket.

Fantova dropped a hard-fought, three-set match to Rinaldi, falling 10-7 in the third-set tiebreaker. Meanwhile, sophomore Richard Meade also fell in three sets in the Spear singles bracket, losing the deciding set by a 6-4 score.

The Owls will wrap up tournament play on Sunday, November 4.
