Saturday's Consolation Results

Tallahassee, FL - Senior Jose Fantova picked up a pair of victories to lead the Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis team’s effort on Saturday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional at Florida State University.

Fantova, a native of Ferrol, Spain, advanced to Sunday’s quarterfinals in the consolation bracket after posting two victories. First, he picked up a 7-5, 6-2 victory over USF’s Guillermo de Vilchez. Then, he rallied to defeat the University of Georgia’s Will Oliver in three sets, winning the second frame by a 6-0 score before coming out on top in the tiebreaker by a 10-6 score.

Sophomore Will Neuner lost a first-round consolation match to Kennesaw State University’s Tobias Menhofer in three sets. He dropped the third-set tiebreaker by a 10-8 margin.

Tournament action continues through Monday, October 22.
