Gainesville, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team picked up a pair of singles victories to conclude play in the Bedford Cup this weekend in Gainesville. The tournament opened the Owls' fall schedule.

Senior Jose Fantova picked up his first FAU victory with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 triumph over USF's Everth Dzib in consolation round action. Sophomore Will Neuner also dropped only three games in winning a consolation singles match over Stetson's Erik Halai.

"We learned a tremendous amount about ourselves in this season-opening fall competition," said Brandon Stokes, FAU's head men's tennis coach. "We will improve on the court so that our unique team identity shines this spring. We are eager to prove how good we are when we take the court again."

The Owls return to the court on September 28 when several team members participate in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers. Meanwhile, senior Taylor Albrecht and Neuner will participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., beginning on September 28.
