Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team picked up its first shutout victory of the season with a 7-0 triumph over Hampton University on Saturday morning in Daytona Beach.
The Owls did not drop a set while winning all nine matches to post their second victory of the season.
Senior Jose Fantova anchored the singles lineup with a straight-set win (6-1, 6-3) over Hampton's Wan-Young Park, and sophomore Will Neuner and freshman Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff dropped just two games in each of their matches at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
The good times kept rolling as freshman Matthew Samberg won 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 4 match, and sophomore Robert Dubuque did not lose a game in being victorious at No. 5 singles. Sophomore Sean Bacha rounded out the singles winners with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Hampton's Henry Drakeford in the No. 6 match.
In doubles, Neuner and Bacha teamed to pick up an 8-5 win at the top of the lineup. Dubuque and Morin-Kougoucheff earned an 8-2 win in the No. 2 match, and freshmen John Nowak and Samberg dropped only one game to round out the doubles winners.
