Tallahassee, FL - Sophomore Robert Dubuque dropped a three-set singles match to highlight the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team's performance in a 7-0 dual match loss to No. 29-ranked Florida State University on Saturday.
Dubuque won the opening set 6-2, but FSU's Joao Gauer squared the No. 6 singles match with a 7-5 victory in the second set. In the third-set tiebreaker, Gauer edged Dubuque 10-8 in the competitive match.
FAU falls to 0-3 on the season with two setbacks coming against nationally ranked teams.
The Owls will have their home opener on Sunday, February 3 at noon against Sun Belt Conference rival Troy University at Patch Reef Park, 1200 Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
