Men's Tennis Shuts Down St. John's
Jan. 19, 2017

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Remi Chancerel, Arthur Stefani and Ignacio Jimenez each won their singles matches and the Florida Atlantic University men’s tennis team swept doubles play to down St. John’s 4-0 on Thursday at the first men’s match at the FAU Tennis Complex.

“I am so proud of these kids. This team’s limit is the sky and I am sure this is going to be one of many more victories this spring,” FAU Head Coach Ricardo Gonzalez said. “Our guys had a lot of fun out there, they came out with a lot of energy and intensity and much desire to beat a very good St. John's team whom we had lost to last year. We have a lot of respect for their coaches and players while they have proven to be consistently a top 50 program in the country.”
“Doubles was a key point for us and I am proud of the way Andrei [Morin-Kougoucheff] and Remi fought back to win their match 7-5 after being down 5-1. Our number three team of Stefan [Burnett] and Arthur started off with great energy and did a tremendous job playing solid tennis throughout the entire set.”
“While, in singles play, I didn't think we played our best tennis today, I was extremely proud to see how our guys go out there expecting to win. Our guys competed extremely well from top to bottom and this was 100 percent a team win.”
“I would like to send a special thanks to everyone who made it possible for both men and women's program to play in this amazing facility. The energy and excitement our student athletes have is incredible and we are excited about the future of our tennis programs at Florida Atlantic University.”
