The Florida Atlantic University swimming and diving program continues to gain recognition during the winter season as Csaba Pek and Christinia Sterman grabbed honors from the Sun Belt Conference this week.

Pek was named the conference's Male Swimmer of the Week for the second time this winter after having strong performances in two home meets last weekend. Meanwhile, Sterman received the Female Diver of the Week Award.

Pek, a sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, placed first the 200-yard freestyle event in the Owls' meet against Clemson University and the University of Findlay on December 18, coming back over the final 25 yards to win the race in four tenths of a second at 1:45.86. Then, he won the 200-yard backstroke event (1:53.88) in a meet against the University of Denver and the University of Cincinnati on December 19. His victory in the freestyle competition was in come from behind fashion. Pek also posted three runner-up finishes and had a third-place showing.

Sterman, a freshman diver from Plantation, Fla., posted consistent scores in the 1- and 3- meter diving competitions in a dual meet against Denver and Cincinnati on December 19. She tallied 232.80 points to finish third on the 1-meter diving board and placed sixth in the 3-meter event with 232.10 points. Sterman earlier had scored 209.50 points from the judges in the 1-meter diving event against Clemson, Northwestern University, Florida International University and Findlay on December 18.

The Owls will return to the pool on January 9 when the program hosts the FAU Invitational at the FAU Aquatic Center.
