FAU’s Student Athletes Post the Program’s Highest G.P.A.

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University’s student-athletes continue to raise the academic standard for Owl athletics, most recently posting a department wide grade point average above a 3.0 for the fall semester. It marked the first time in the program’s history that the student-athletes posted a cumulative semester G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.

“This is a department defining achievement by our student-athletes,” said Pat Chun, FAU’s vice president and director of athletics. “A culture of academic achievement has been created by our student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff. The bar has been set to its greatest height ever and now we will reach even higher next semester. Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for their hard work, dedication and commitment to doing something extraordinary.”

In the fall of 2015, FAU student-athletes:
• posted the program’s highest department G.P.A. of 3.012
• had a record number of student-athletes (269) earn a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
• saw 55% of the student-athletes post a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher
• were led by the women’s golf team who posted the highest team G.P.A. (3.34) in the department. Men’s swimming and diving had the highest G.P.A. on the men’s side
• saw each of the 11 women’s teams post a team G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
• had 20 student-athletes post a 4.0 G.P.A.
