BOCA RATON, FL – Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer head coach Kos Donev has announced senior Andre McCreath, junior Darnell King and sophomore Tyler McNabb as the team’s captains to lead the Owls in the 2010 season.

“We believe the three players that we’ve selected are the most respected among the players and are the best choice to be the leaders of our program,” said Donev. “Our staff felt it was necessary to select and announce captains early enough in order to sufficiently prepare for spring workouts leading up to the fall season.”

King led FAU in scoring this season with 15 points on six goals and three assists. The Tampa native has been a staple in the Owls’ starting lineup since his freshman season and has scored eight career goals through his first two seasons at FAU. King was also an All-County selection at Gaither High School and broke a school record with 71 career points.

McCreath appeared in only three games during the 2009 season before injuring his lower leg. The Coconut Creek native has appeared in 39 games during his three-year career at FAU. McCreath was named the team MVP after his senior season at Coconut Creek High School in addition to being an honorable mention on the all-conference team.

McNabb started 15 out of 16 games on defense last season for the Owls in his redshirt freshman season. The Cape Girardeau, Missouri native transferred to FAU from St. Louis University where he sat out his true freshman season.

“We are excited about the players we have returning next year and we need all three of our captains to lead by example,” said Donev. “Our trio all posses similar leadership qualities and we are confident they will continue to show their commitment and dedication to our soccer program.”

FAU finished 2009 with a 4-10-2 record after falling with a score of 3-0 in their season finale against Bowling Green University on November 7. The Owls will begin preseason workouts during the spring semester in preparation for the upcoming 2010 season.
