Fuster and Brooks Earn First Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University's Braxton Fuster of men's soccer and Takia Brooks of women's basketball have earned their first Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

Men's soccer concluded its season on Sunday in a 5-1 victory over Stetson University. Fuster led all scorers with a four-point afternoon as he tallied two goals for his first career points as an Owl. He collected his first collegiate goal in the final minute of the first period registering a header off a corner kick from inside the six-yard box. The goal extended FAU's lead to finish the first half 2-0. Fuster tallied his second goal with 10-minutes remaining giving the Owls a four goal advantage to end the match 5-1.

Brooks led the women's basketball team in scoring at Ohio State on Sunday and was instrumental in helping FAU come back from a 23-point deficit. She recorded six points during FAU's 21-6 run in the final minutes which allowed the Owls to pull within one point of the Buckeyes, who have not lost a season opener since 1998. The 5-7 guard also grabbed five rebounds, four of those on the offensive end, against a team whose roster sports seven players listed at six-feet tall or taller.

FAU men's soccer finished the season 7-7-2 overall and 1-7-1 in Conference USA. The women's basketball team will take the court for their home opener against Florida Memorial on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.
