Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will close out the season with a battle against nationally ranked University of Akron on Sunday, November 6, beginning at 2 p.m., at the FAU Soccer Stadium, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

The Owls have been eliminated from qualifying for the Mid-American Conference tournament after having a 0-4-1 league mark so far this season. FAU has a 5-7-2 overall record this season, and has a 3-1-1 in home matches.

Akron is the defending NCAA Division I national champions, and are ranked sixth in the latest national poll. The Zips stand 12-2-3 on the season, have won all five MAC matches and are coming off a 2-2 draw against Wake Forest on October 29. Darren Mattocks leads the team and conference with 17 goals, while Scott Caldwell has 10 assists and five goals. Other offensive threats for the visitors will be Luke Holmes, who has five assists this fall, and Thomas Schmitt, who has found the back of the net five times.

Prior to the match, FAU will honor seniors Sky Cutler, Darnell King, Andre McCreath and James McCormack. King leads the team with five goals. McCreath are two of the team's three captains, and Cutler has appeared in all 14 matches this season.
