BOCA RATON, Fla. – With a 6-1-2 record, the Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer team will be heading back on the road this week for two matches. The Owls will face conference opponents South Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 16 and New Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Wednesday evening’s contest will bring the Owls to Stone Stadium in Columbia, S.C. where they will face the Gamecocks for the first time in program history. Currently, the teams are tied in the conference with four points each (1-1-1). South Carolina is 4-5-3 overall.
Offensively, the Gamecocks have collected 15 goals out of 149 shots for a shot percentage of 0.101 while the Owls have tallied 17 goals out of 79 shots for a 0.215 shot percentage. Defensively, South Carolina has saved 48 shots on goal, earning a team save percentage of 0.762 versus FAU’s Theo Jamilloux’s save percentage of 0.759 with 41 saves. With 172 shots tallied, South Carolina currently has a shot percentage of 0.116 while the defense has claimed a 0.676 save percentage with 23 total saves.
The Owls will then travel to Albuquerque for an afternoon match against Conference USA leader New Mexico. The Lobos are the only remaining undefeated team in conference play (3-0-1) and goalkeeper (NAME?) is the reigning Conference USA Player of the Week. Overall, New Mexico has posted a 7-3-2 record this season. The Lobos’ offensive attack has collected 20 goals over 12 games played.
