Sept. 23, 2013

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University’s men’s soccer team and volleyball team both picked up wins over the weekend. Notable performances by Ryan Price and Ivana Bulajic have earned the pair FAU’s student athlete of the week honors.

Price scored two goals over the weekend, against Jacksonville University and UNF, assisting the team in two home wins. The junior is now credited with six goals for the season putting him in a three-way tie for first in the conference and making him FAU’s leading scorer. He has played an instrumental role in the Owls 5-0-1 record.

In action on Sept. 20, Price scored the equalizer goal against Jacksonville off an assist. FAU scored again in the second period, with Price credited with the assist, beating the Dolphins 2-1. On Sept. 22, FAU faced the UNF Osprey in a match that the Owls tied at two with just four minutes left of regulation. A foul on UNF awarded FAU its second penalty kick of the afternoon which Price converted for the 3-2 win in the fourth minute of overtime. Price is second in the conference for points per game, with a 2.33 average and goals per game, averaging one per game. He is nationally ranked in sixth-place for goals per game and seventh for points per game.

Men’s soccer will travel to conference opponent University of Alabama-Birmingham for their next match on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2:30 p.m.  The UAB Blazers are ranked second in Conference USA.

Junior Ivana Bulajic led the Owls to an incredible come-from-behind victory over UCF on Sept. 20 against UCF. The native of Serbia had a career high 16 kills in the match against the Knights. It was her fifth double-digit kill match of the season and the most since she had 13 kills against Jacksonville on Sept. 7. For the season, Bulajic leads the team with 114 points.

Volleyball will host conference opponents Marshall and Charlotte on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon, respectively.
