King Notches First Professional Goal and Assist in Strikers' Tie

CARY, NC – In the Fort Lauderdale Strikers’ match on July 7, former FAU soccer star Darnell King scored his first professional goal and also added an assist in the team’s 3-3 tie with the Carolina RailHawks.

King started at forward and scored the team’s first goal, with 30:53 on the clock, on an assist from Abe Thompson, knotting the game at 1-1. Later, King’s pass to teammate Walter Restrepo gave the latter player his second goal of the night, and at that time (the 68:31 mark), pushed the Strikers lead out to 3-1.

The RailHawks scored the last two goals of the day to force the tie. The Strikers are now 5-5-6 on the season. They return home to Lockhart Stadium this Saturday, July 14, when the host the league-leading San Antonio Scorpions.
