BOCA RATON, Fla. – FAU Stadium has been selected as the host site of the United States Women’s National Soccer team for a match against the Russian National team on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3:30 p.m, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

The United States Women’s National Soccer team has not faced Russia in more than a decade. The last time the two teams met in 2002, the United States won 5-1. The U.S. Women have never lost to Russia with a 5-0-1 all-time record. The U.S. Women come into the match ranked No. 1 in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings while Russia is ranked No. 21.

This will be the second appearance for the U.S. Women at FAU Stadium, when the Women’s National Team ended its 2012 season in a match against China PR with a 4-1 victory. This will be the USA’s fourth game in the past 14 months in the state of Florida.

FAU Stadium, home to FAU’s football team, opened in October 2011. It seats more than 29,000 fans and has hosted a number of high-profile sporting events.  Most recently, FAU Stadium was selected to host the 2014 NCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship.  The Boca Raton Bowl, a nationally televised bowl game created by ESPN, will be played at FAU Stadium in December.

Tickets for the soccer match are scheduled to go on sale to the public on Friday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, at all Ticketmaster outlets throughout South Florida, including Walmart, as well as at the FAU Wally Sanger Athletic Ticket Office at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
