Atlanta, GA - Florida Atlantic University's men's soccer team was defeated 2-1 by Georgia State Sunday afternoon, but clinched the no. 2 seed in the Atlantic Sun tournament for only the third time in program history. Bjorn Masson scored his second goal in as many games while Josh Garbee's assist marked his fourth consecutive game with a point. The Owls secured a spot in the A-Sun tournament for the seventh time in 11 years.

FAU (9-8-1, 6-3-0 A-Sun) scored the first goal for the 13th time in 18 games this season as the Owls are 8-5 in games where they score first. Masson tied his career high in goals scored in a season when he put Florida Atlantic on top 1-0 in the 13th minute of play. FAU outshot GSU 6-4 in the first half.

The Panthers (9-5-2, 5-3-1 A-Sun) rallied in the second half with 13 shots, while holding the Owls to seven. Twenty minutes into the second half, Brian Mitchell tied the score 1-1 when he received the pass from Joey Grigsby and put it past Anders Granstad. Grigsby would score the game-winner 12 minutes later to give GSU a 2-1 victory.

Granstad recorded a season high nine shots, setting a career high in saves in a season with 88. With the no. 2 seed, Florida Atlantic will receive a first-round bye in the conference tournament. The top six teams in the conference advance to the tournament.
