Orlando, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's soccer team was defeated by Central Florida 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in a battle between two undefeated Atlantic Sun teams. Bjorn Totland led the team with four shots on goal as the Owls fell to 5-6-1 overall and 2-1 in the A-Sun. UCF improves to 7-2-2 and 3-0 in conference play.
FAU attempted to set the tone early in the match, starting the game with a flurry of shots on UCF. Golden Knights' keeper Ryan McIntosh made two saves in the first half which included a point blank shot by Totland in the ninth minute.
Chris Beaulac's fourth goal of the season at 42:18 proved to be all that UCF needed in the game. Eric Vasquez's partially blocked shot was received by Beaulac and sent back past FAU keeper Anders Granstad to make it 1-0.
FAU was outshot 18-7 while corners favored UCF 7-6. Granstad recorded five saves, his third consecutive game with five or more saves.
The Owls will return to action on Thursday, October 16, when they travel to Boiling Springs, NC, for a 4 pm match against Gardner-Webb.
