No. 10 Akron Tops FAU in Men's Soccer, 5-0

AKRON, OHIO – The FAU men’s soccer team lost to No. 10 Akron on the road Friday night, 5-0.

The Zips got on the board just nine minutes in when Reinaldo Brenes knocked in the first of his two goals on the night. Just over 10 minutes later, Eric Stevenson got one of what would turn out to be two goals as well. Each also had an assist in the win.

Akron outshot the Owls 23-5. Winning goalkeeper David Meves had a clean sheet, with zero saves, as none of the five FAU shots were on goal. Jeremy Crumpton had three saves before he was replaced by Scott Power in the 72nd minute.  Power had one save.

Daniel Mendes had two of the five FAU shots, with one each by Tyler McNabb, Martin Nesic and Joe Rodriguez. In all, twenty Owls saw field time in the match.

Next up for the 1-8-1 Owls is a trip a bit further north to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take on the Western Michigan Broncos, Sunday morning at noon eastern.
