BOCA RATON, FL - The men's soccer team fell on Sunday to Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois, 2-0.
The Huskies got on the board first in the 24th minute when Isaac Kannah got his first goal of the season off a cross from James Stevenson. Stevenson later got an unassisted goal of his own, in the 67th minute, on a ball that deflected off FAU goalkeeper Jeremy Crumpton and just barely crossed the goal line.
FAU was outshot 12-2 in the first half and 21-11 overall. Crumpton had nine saves in the loss, while NIU goalkeeper Jordan Godsey staved off seven FAU shots on goal and got the win.
The Owls are winless over their last seven matches, and are now 1-7-1 on the year. They are on the road for their next two MAC matches, playing No. 10 Akron on Friday, October 5, at 7:30 p.m., and then traveling to Western Michigan for a noon start on Sunday, October 7. The next match in Boca Raton is a week following that, October 14, against Howard University.
