ONEONTA, NY – The Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer team lost to Hartwick in its opening game of Mid-American Conference play 4-1. The Owls travelled to Oneonta, N.Y., but couldn’t get its offense together to pull off the victory.

Hartwick’s Simon Greatwich led the Hawks offensive attack with two goals and an assist. He contributed to the first three goals scored on the evening. His first tally came on a cross Jherrett Maroney in the third minute. He helped Tim Crawford find the back of the net to put Hartwick up 2-0 in the 42th minute. Greatwich capped off his productive night with a goal in the 66th minute.

The Hawks rounded out the scoring on Greg Mathers goal in the 84th minute.

FAU took 13 shots but was unable to capitalize on its offensive chances despite an 88th minute goal by Jefferson Dias that Darnell King was awarded the assist on.

The Owls will be back in action on Sunday, October 2 when they battle Bowling Green University, beginning at noon. The Falcons earned 1-0 victory over IUPUI on Friday.
