FAU men's soccer goes 1-1 at UAB Nike Soccer Classic

Birmingham, Ala - ,Birmingham, Ala. Florida Atlantic men's soccer team goes 1-1 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Nike soccer classic.

Florida Atlantic nipped Birmingham-Southern 2-1 in overtime on Friday night. Emiliano Aranes tallied at 101:11 of overtime to lift the Owls to there first victory of the season. Assists on the goal were given to Henrik Salveson and Pablo Luna.

FAU's first goal was scored by Frans Ronning at 70:49, tying the game and sending into overtime. Goalkeeper Jonas Kolstad played the entire 101:11, making 4 saves to register his first win on the season.

Sunday had FAU playing against the 17th ranked UAB Blazers. UAB jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead, then added two second half goals and won by a 5-0 decision. UAB goals were scored by Nnamdi Ngwe (6:23), Marin Pusek (14:22), Mikey Spitzer (30:23), and Jarbos Carlos with two (66:35 & 72:37).

Making the All-Tournament team from FAU were Bjorn Masson, Frans Roenning, and Henrick Salveson.

FAU returns to action Friday, September 21, at 7:30pm for there home opener against Belmont University.
