Harrisonburg, Va. - The Florida Atlantic University's men's soccer team fell behind quickly in its last game of the James Madison Tournament against St. Bonaventure in Harrisonburg, Va. on Sunday. The Bonnies took control of the game offensively for a 2-0 win over the Owls.
The Owls surrendered the first goal two minutes into the game. St. Bonaventure was able to break down the FAU defense when Brad Vanino slipped the ball past FAU goal keeper Jeremy Crumpton off an assist from James Reed. Despite the early break down and the 15 corner kicks that FAU gave up to St. Bonaventure, the Owls were able to hold off the Bonnies from scoring until the 72nd minute when Reed scored.
FAU's Darnell King and Michael Dunbar recorded shots, led by King's five on the afternoon. The defensive effort from Tyler McNabb, Timothy Merrigan and Joachim Hansteen limited the Bonnies scoring opportunities.
FAU host its home opener against Jacksonville on Friday, September 9 in Boca Raton at 7:00 p.m.
