Men's Soccer Gets First Victory of 2012

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer team earned their first victory of the season in shutout fashion, defeating Jacksonville University on the road Friday night, 3-0.

Sophomore Deniz Bozkurt had the first two goals of the match, early on in the sixth minute, and then much later, in the 82nd minute. Two minutes later, fellow second-year player Daniel Mendes notched his first career collegiate goal to provide the final margin.

Goalkeeper Jeremy Crumpton recorded the clean sheet, only facing eight JU shots and being credited with two saves.

The Owls improve to 1-1 and send the Dolphins to an 0-3 start to the season. FAU stays in Jacksonville for their next matchup, Sunday against the University of North Florida, a 3:30 p.m. start.
