Tampa, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team scored three goals but it was not enough as the team lost 4-3 in double overtime to USF. Kristoffer Aarskog scored two goals while Bjorn Masson recorded three assists, doubling last season's total.
The Bulls started off hot, scoring two goals in twenty minutes to take a 2-0 lead. But FAU would not sit still as Aarskog scored his first goal of the season off of a free kick from Masson in the 21st minute. But USF's Hunter West would fight back, scoring his second goal in five minutes to increase the lead to 3-1.
In the second period FAU looked like a completely different team as they quickly mounted an attack with a very aggressive play style. Aarskog added his second goal of the night in the 50th minute, a header off a corner kick by Masson, his second assist to make it a 3-2 game.
The Owls tied the game at 3-3 just two minutes later as Masson assisted on his third goal of the night to Bjorn Totlan off a free kick. The game would remain knotted at 3-3 until West completed his hat trick with 3:34 remaining in the second overtime period on a cross from the left corner by Drew Helm.
The Owls return Friday, September 5 for their first home game of the season against Coastal Carolina at 7:30 pm. Season ticket packages can be purchased before the first home game. Adult packages begin at $21 for the seven-game season while individual ticket prices will be $4 for adults and $2 for seniors/children.
