Men's Soccer to Hold Spring Tryouts

Tryouts will be Monday, Feb. 2 at 8 a.m. at the Glades Fields

Brian Galvin joined Florida Atlantic University athletics as the goalkeeper coach for men's soccer in July of 2013.

Galvin comes to FAU from Barry University where he spent the 2012 season working as an assistant and goalkeeper coach for their men's soccer team. Prior to his time at Barry, Galvin served two seasons at Manhattan College. During his second season, the team cut nearly two goals per game off their goals against average.

While working at Manhattan College in 2010, Galvin held the position of Director of Goalkeeping at Sports Doman Academy (SDA) in Montclair, N.J. During his time at SDA, Galvin was responsible for creating goalkeeping academy curriculum, developing goalkeeping trainers, evaluating goalkeepers, and educating and training staff coaches. He worked as Director of Goalkeeping previously at Worthington Crew Juniors Soccer Club from 2007-10 where his duties included serving as head coach of the U17 boys, U16 boys, and two U10 girls teams. Galvin also coached Kendall Soccer Coalition's Boys U14 team from 2012-13.

Galvin began his coaching career at the Wellington School in Columbus, OH where he was the assistant coach during the 2008 season and became varsity head coach for the 2009 season.

A 2006 graduate of UNLV, Galvin brings an extensive amount of coaching experience to FAU. As he enters his first season with the Owls, he will also be completing his masters of business administration at FAU, expecting to graduate in May 2016.

In addition, Galvin will continue to serve as owner and Director of Coaching of the South Florida Goalkeeping Academy which provides high level goalkeeper training and summer goal keeping camps across South Florida. The academy officially opened in January, 2013.
