Men's Golf Finishes Day One of Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic

Day 1 Results

The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team is in fourth place after playing 36 holes on day one of the 2015 Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic.

The 54-hole event is being held at Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Fla. The par 72, 7,025 yard course welcomed 11 collegiate teams including Florida, Georgetown, Jacksonville State, UCF, FGCU, EKU, Ohio, Bethune-Cookman University, Stetson, Creighton

Freshman Jackson Shoenfelt and junior Cody Christensen are leading the pack tied for 12th place. Shoenfelt shot a 75 in round one and improving his round two score to 73 for a total of 148. Christensen shot a two-over 74 in both rounds, recording four birdies on the day.

Senior Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla was close behind carding rounds of 76 and 75 tying for 17th place. Freshman newcomer Yuki Fujii followed suite, recording three birdies on the day. Fujii is in 35th place after shooting a 76 in round one and a 79 in round two for a total of 155.



Rounding out FAU's competitors was senior Derron Peyton and junior Caleb Sibley finishing tied for 42nd and 62nd place, respectively. Peyton recorded an eight-over 80 in round one and improved two strokes to a 78 in round two. Sibley was able to finish the day with a total score of 165, recording four birdies in the first round.

FAU finished the day with a team total of 599. The final 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27th. Results will be available upon completion of the meet at
