Bowling Green, Ky. -
The Florida Atlantic University men’s golf team completed the WKU/Kenny Perry Invitational on Tuesday finishing in ninth place, putting up a team total of 916.
Senior Derron Peyton was FAU’s top finisher, tying for second place after 54 holes. Peyton shot two-under 70 in the third round for a tournament total of 217, improving his 11th place standing from day one. He previously shot 76 and 71 in rounds one and two, respectively.
“First of all, I want to congratulate Derron Peyton for finishing second overall in a very tough field, he didn’t start out great but finished strong. I’m proud of all of the guys because they bounced back in the last two rounds after we dug ourselves in a hole during the first 18. As a Coach, you look for that in your athletes and I was extremely proud of the way they finished the tournament.” Said Head Coach Angelo Sands.
The Owls will travel to Estero, Fla. to compete in the Homewood Suites-Hilton Garden Inn Classic hosted by Florida Gulf Coast beginning Monday, Oct. 26
