BOCA RATON, FLA. – Freshman Connor O’Rourke competed in his first collegiate tournament, the Huskies Invitational, with the Florida Atlantic University men’s golf team last weekend. The Jupiter, Fla. Native led the Owls in scoring assisting the team to their fifth-place finish.

O’Rourke finished the first round shooting 69 to tie for fourth with teammate and last season’s leading scorer Richard Donegan. He tallied five birdies in the opening round. After carding 76 and falling to a 21st-place tie in the second round, O’Rourke came back with his lowest round of the tournament, shooting 68 in the final. He advanced to tie for 12th-place overall.

The freshman comes to FAU from Jupiter High School where he made the 8AAAA all-region team two times and was named first team all-conference and first team all-area in his senior year. O’Rourke will travel with FAU to Fort Myers, Fla. on Oct. 27-28 for the Cobra-Puma Invitational at Miromar Lakes Golf Club.
