MUSCLE SHOALS, AL - The Florida Atlantic men's golf team tees off in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships today, at the Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club.
The Owls are competing on the 7,371-yard Fighting Joe Course at the Shoals, part of the famed Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Junior Clinton Wilhelm leads the squad with a per-round average of 74.39 strokes, and has two wins among his three top-10 finishes this season. He is just ahead of senior Justin Thompson, whose average is 74.48 and has four top-10's on his résumé.
The next man in the fivesome is the team's only other senior, and along with Thompson, a fellow co-captain, Michael Baskovich. He checks in with a 75.86 scoring average, with two top-10 finishes on the year.
Two freshmen will round out the group: Bradford Kidd and Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla. Kidd had his lowest round of the year in the season finale, tying for medalist honors with a 72 against Marquette, and has a season average of 75.86. Gerboles-Parrilla is just a tick behind him at 76.73.
