Charleston, SC - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team recorded its best finish of the fall season, finishing second out of 10 teams at the Charleston Southern Fall Invitational at the Coosaw Creek Country Club. Four Owls finished in the top-18, led by Torstein Naevestad's third place finish, while the team shot a tournament low 281 in the second round on the 6,467-yard, par 71 course.
Naevestad, recording his second top-10 finish this season and sixth of his career, tied his career low with a second round 68 and set a new career low with a three-round total of 211. Freshmen Marco Morales and Joong Jo set career lows in total scoring while Jo also set a career low for an individual round. Morales (Miami, FL) finished with a three-round total of 219 courtesy of shooting two-under par in the second round. Jo, helped by his second-round 70, finished with a three-round total of 220. Ben Gardner finished 18th in his first tournament of the year, with a three-round score of 221 while Tommy Suri tied for 28th, respectively.
The Owls put together their best performance with a three-round total of 868, 10-strokes behind host Charleston Southern. Tennessee State placed third at 880, followed by The Citadel (891) and Florida A&M (892). Jacksonville (897) and Stetson (914) finished sixth and eighth.
FAU will conclude its fall season on Monday, November 8 at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate.
