The Owls stand in third place and trail tournament leader Johnson & Wales by six strokes heading into Sunday's final round

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - Balanced and consistent scores have put the Florida Atlantic University men's golf team in third place among the 12-team field of the Mission Inn Fall Intercollegiate at Howey-in-the Hills, Fla. The final round will be played on Sunday.
FAU recorded a 298-stroke team score during Saturday's second round, three strokes higher than Friday's low round of the season (295). That put the team with a 593 composite score to trail leader Johnson & Wales University of Florida (587) and St. John's University (588), the tournament's host. The Owls find themselves ahead of fellow Sun Belt Conference foe Western Kentucky University (597).
Freshman Casey Matthews led Florida Atlantic with a career-best round with an even par 72 score on Saturday over the 6,949-yard Mission Inn Country Club golf course. The Miami native shot a two-over-par 74 in Friday's first round and stands in fifth place individually with a 146-stroke two-day total.
Junior Michael Baskovich is tied for sixth place individually with a 147 score after having a two-under-par 70 on Friday.
Other FAU scorers included senior Kelly McHugh, who had another consistent round with a three-over-par 75 on Saturday, and freshman Alex Gates, who rebounded to help the Owls with a two-over-par 74 in the second round.
