Men's Golf Tied for Second After Opening Round at Huskies Invitational

Round 1 Results

HOUSTON, TX – The Florida Atlantic University men’s golf opened their fall season on Monday at the Huskies Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist University on the par 71, 7,002 yard Woodforest Golf Course. FAU finished the first round with a team total of 2-under 282 tied for second with the UALR Trojans.

Sophomore Richard Donegan, FAU’s leading scorer last season, tied for fourth with teammate Connor O’Rourke after both shooting opening rounds of 69. O’Rourke, a freshman from Jupiter, FL, tallied five birdies throughout the first round.

Alex Gates finished the round tied for 20th shooting even par. The senior carded even par on 16 of the 18 holes. Derron Peyton shot 2-over 73 to tie for 35th-place and Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla rounded out FAU’s finishers tying for 58th shooting six-over 77.

With Houston Baptist University in first just five strokes ahead of FAU, the Owls will attempt to improve their second place standing during the second round of the Huskies Invitational.
