FORT MYERS, FL - The FAU men's golf team is tied for fourth, and has three individuals in the top 25, after two rounds of play in the Cobra-PUMA Invitational.
Playing at the Miromar Lakes Golf Club, the Owls are only 10 strokes out of second place, with freshmen Richard Donegan and Derron Peyton leading the charge. Each carded a 3-under-par 69 in round one, placing the duo amongst a five-way tie for fourth after 18 holes. Donegan followed that up with an even-par 72 to come into Monday's round tied for ninth at a 3-under-par 141. Peyton's second-round 75 puts him at even-par overall (144), and ties him for 19th.
Senior Frank Berzanskis is next. He shot a 2-under-par 70 after 18 holes (he was ninth at that point), and then a 76 in round two. He is now tied for 25th (2-over-par total of 146). Making his FAU debut in this season's second tournament is junior Airik Medinis, who went 74-75 (149), and is tied for 39th. Clinton Wilhelm rounds out the Owls' scoring, with a total of 152 (78-74). He is tied for 56th.
Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla, playing as an individual, shot a 74-75. His 5-over 149 has him, like Medinis, tied for 39th.
FGCU is the team leader at 558. Penn State is next at 570, followed by Bethune-Cookman (572), and then the Owls and Wofford College at 578. Nathan Kerns of Marshall leads all individuals with a 9-under-par 135 (68-67).
