Sunset Beach, NC - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team saw its fall season swing into action on Sunday as the team finished 12th out of 22 teams at the Sea Trail Men's Intercollegiate hosted by Elon University. Torstein Naevestad finished tied for 28th to lead the Owls.
Naevestad improved four strokes on the second day to shoot a final round of 73 and bring his two-day total to 150. Michael Cleary started the tournament with an opening round 73 before shooting a second-round 79 to finished tied for 38th. Tommy Suri finished with a two-day score of 155 while freshman Marco Morales fired rounds of 79 and 77 in his first career tournament. Michael Himebaugh shot a two-day total of 167, respectively.
The Owls fired an opening round 309 before improving five-strokes on the second day of action. Rutgers University finished first overall with a score of 579. George Mason (580), Samford University (581), Jacksonville University (591) and host Elon (597) round out the top five. FAU finished third out of four Atlantic Sun schools as Gardner-Webb (601) finished ninth and Stetson (641) finished 20th.
FAU returns to action on Friday, October 8 at the Mission Inn Intercollegiate in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
