Men's Golf Finishes First Round of Conference USA Championship

EDMOND, OK – The Florida Atlantic University men’s golf team completed the opening round of the 2014 Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship on Sunday, April 27 at Oak Tree Golf Club. The 14 competing teams teed off at noon after a weather delay.

The Owls were led by Airik Medinis in the first round who tied for 24th shooting 74 on the par-72 course. Blake Lyle followed recording 76 to tie for 33rd. Lyle led the team in pars, collecting 13 over the 18-hole round. Derron Peyton tied for 55th shooting 79 while FAU’s Caleb Sibley tied for 56 recording 81 strokes. Sibley led the team in par-3 scoring. The team was rounded out by Connor O’Rourke who carded 82 strokes for a 60th-place tie.

FAU is in 14th-place going into the second round on Monday, April 28 with a team total of 310. The second round of the championship tees off with FAU and East Carolina off hole 10 at 7:42 a.m.
