FAU's top finisher, Richard Donegan, tied fr 34th

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL - After three rounds of play at the Sun Belt Conference Men's Championship, Florida Atlantic University finished in 10th place with a total score of 56-over 920. The team was in 11th place after each of the first two rounds, and then carded 298 in the third moving up to 10th.
The team's top performer for the season, Richard Doneganwas the top finisher for the Owls, tying for 34th. Donegan scored rounds of 74, 84, and 71 for a total 13-over 229. His scorecard for the third round included four birdies bringing his total to eight for the tournament.
Clinton Wilhelmscored the next lowest round for Florida Atlantic carding 74 for a total 15-over 231. The redshirt senior also had four birdies for the round and finished in 40th.
Alex Gates carded rounds of 82, 74, and 77 to tie for 41st place just two strokes behind Wilhelm. Airik Medinis and Derron Peytonrounded out the Florida Atlantic team finishing with final round scores of 76 and 79, respectively. Medinis tied for 45th with 234 for the tournament while Peyton came in at 49th with a score of 238.
The North Texas Mean Green won the Team Championship while South Alabama's Lane Hulse took the individual title.
Head Coach Angelo Sands will conduct tryouts for the 2013-2014 season starting on August 30. Student-athletes interested in competing for a place on the team must express intent to try out or walk-on by June 15. Please refer to the men's golf page for details.
