Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at SBC Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL - The Florida Atlantic men's golf team finished up play at the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Championships in eighth place, with Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla topping the squad, just outside of the individual top 10.

The freshman native of Leon, Spain, shot a third round 77 to finish at 222 overall, 6-over-par. He was one stroke behind the golfers ahead of him that tied for ninth place.

Clinton Wilhelm was next for FAU at 234, with Bradford Kidd just behind him at 236. The squad shot a 310 Wednesday to finish at 926.

The final round of the tournament marked the end of the careers for the Owls' senior co-captains, Justin Thompson and Michael Baskovich. Baskovich had his best round on Wednesday, a 76. He finished five strokes ahead of Thompson.

North Texas and their number one golfer, Ty Spinella, led the tournament the entire way. The team shot a total of 873, 9-over-par, to win by eight strokes over Middle Tennessee State. Spinella finished a 2-under-par, three strokes ahead of MTSU's Hunter Green.
