MCKINNEY, Texas – Florida Atlantic University’s men’s golf team finished the third round of Texas State’s Jim West Intercollegiate at TPC Craig Ranch on Tuesday. The Owls finished 14th with rounds of 300, 296 and 308 for a total 904 strokes.
Derron Peyton completed the tournament as FAU’s top finisher tying for 48th. Peyton carded 79 strokes in the final round to bring his three-round total to 223. Connor O’Rourke followed Peyton, shooting 224 over the two days of play. O’Rourke’s rounds of 73, 72 and 79 tied the freshman at 51st. FAU’s Airik Medinis tied for 72nd with rounds of 83, 75 and 73 for 231 strokes total.
Caleb Sibley finished in 75th-place shooting 77 in the final round. Sibley carded 78 and 77 in the first two rounds to finish with 232 strokes total. To round out FAU’s team, Blake Lyle shot 77, 78 and 79 for 234 strokes and a 76th-place tie.
Virginia took top honors with a team total of 819 and two individuals tying for first-place individually with 203 strokes. The Owls will wrap up their season at the Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship starting on Sunday, April 20. The three-day tournament will take place at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.
