Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team shined on the final day of the ASU Intercollegiate after competing with only four players. FAU finished the tournament in fourth place after entering the final day in sixth overall. While the Owls finished with a team total 879, UT Martin captured the event with an 852 score.
Individually, the Owls were led by Michael Perez, each of the three rounds for a tournament score of 210 (74, 67, 69) tying for a third place finish. The senior carded 11 birdies in 54-holes, with five coming in the final round to shoot two-under on the day. Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla finished the tournament tied for 15th with a three-round score of 219 (74, 70, 75). Parrilla shot six-over for the tournament but managed two card two birdies on the final day and an eagle on the par four 18th hole.
Five shots back was Jackson Shoenfelt who shot a three-over 74 in the final round to finish with a total of 224 after 54-holes. Shoenfelt tied for 24th overall and carded eight birdies in the tournament. Rounding out the team scorers shooting a 238 and tying for 69th place was freshman Yuki Fujii. Fujii shot an 11-over in the final two rounds after shooting a three-over 74 in the first.
Junior Caleb Sibley withdrew from the tournament following the second round due to an injury. Sibley was tied for 20th place after the second round heading into the final day after shooting a two-over 73 and even par 71.
The ASU event is the final regular-season match for the Owls, who will next participate in the C-USA Tournament April 24-27 held at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
