LAKE WORTH, FL - Florida Atlantic University's Spring Break Championship began today with 15 universities traveling to the Fountains Country Club for the three-round tournament. The Owls have two teams participating in the tournament, the "A" team who finished in fourth and the "B" team which tied for 12th.
Florida Atlantic's "A" team scored a team total of 9-over 293 on the 6,876 yards, par 71 north course. The team lineup consists of Richard Donegan, Airik Medinis, Clint Wilhelm, Derron Peyton and Alex Gates.
Medinis took the teams highest finish scoring even par and tying with four other individuals for seventh-place. Donegan, Gates, and Peyton finished tied for 28th each scoring 3-over 74 for the first round. Wilhelm rounded out the finishers for Florida Atlantic's first team tying for 67th.
Lawrence Hoch finished tied for 12th for FAU's "B" team. His teammates include Morgan Hill, Frank Berzanskis, Bradford Kidd, and Joseph Arazi. Berzanskis and Kidd tied for 37th with Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla who is participating as an individual. Arazi and Hill scored 77 and 84, respectively.
The second round will take place tomorrow with the first tee times set for 8:30 a.m. Florida Atlantic's team "A" will tee off at 9:15 a.m. against Murray State and Loyola of Chicago while team "B" will be grouped with participants from Lafayette and Morehead State.
