BOCA RATON, FL- Florida Atlantic men's golf team had a solid first round Friday in the Spring Break Championship at Gleneagles Country Club. The Owls shot a team composite score of 292 to tie for fourth with the University of Minnesota from the Big Ten Conference. FAU ended the first round just four strokes over par.

Ohio State led the teams after shooting a 278 on the par 72 and 6,750 yard course. The Buckeyes are ten strokes below par and are ahead of DePaul (286) who finished in second on Friday by eight strokes.

Clint Wilhelm had the lowest score for the Owls with a 72 in the first round. Wilhelm finished even on the round and leads the Owls with finishing in 15th place individually.

Justin Thompson and Casey Matthews follow right behind Wilhelm, both tied for 25th individually. Thompson and Matthews shot a one-over par 73 on Friday.

Closing out the scoring for the Owls Kelly McHugh shot a 74 for 36th place individually and Michael Baskovich shot a 79.

FAU will play their second round Saturday morning with tee times beginning at 11:30 a.m.
