Men's Golf Leads After First Day of Benbow Invitational
Clint Wilhelm tied for third with teammates Richard Donegan and Alex Gates

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team has finished day-one of Butler University's Benbow Invitational in first place and five individuals tied for third, including FAU's Richard Donegan, Alex Gates, and Clinton Wilhelm.

Florida Atlantic's team score totaled 289 (+1) after the first round, putting them ahead of fifteen other schools competing. Donegan, Gates, and Wilhelm were the Owl's top finishers, all carding 72. Airik Medinis finished close behind his teammates with a score of 1-over 73.

Freshman Derron Peyton rounded out Florida Atlantic's scores with a 77 (+5). Lawrence Hoch, playing as a non-scoring individual, tied with Medinis for eighth with a round of 73.

The second round of the tournament will take place tomorrow morning at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course.
