HARMONY, Fla. – Derron Peyton shot 207 at the 2014 Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate claiming victory and assisting Florida Atlantic University’s team to a third-place finish overall. The three-round tournament took place at the par 72, 7,208 yard Harmony Preserve Golf Course.
Peyton carded 71 in the first round of play to finish day one as FAU’s leading scorer. The sophomore recorded two consecutive rounds of 68 strokes on the final day of the intercollegiate to finish first overall. Following Peyton was FAU’s Caleb Sibley who finished in a three-way tie for 10th-place after carding three rounds of 73 for a tournament total of 219.
Airik Medinis and Payton Olsen both tallied 224 to tie with golfers from Northwood University and Stetson for 15th-place. Medinis shot 75 in the opening round before carding 74 and 75 in the second and third round, respectively. Olsen shot 74 in the first round followed by 75 strokes in both the second and third rounds.
Blake Lyle and Connor O’Rourke rounded out FAU’s team. Lyle tied for 19th with rounds of 77, 75 and 73 for a total of 225. O’Rourke followed Lyle by just two strokes tying for 22nd-place. The freshman carded rounds of 74, 78 and 75 for a total of 227 strokes. The Owls finished third in the tournament with a team total of 871. FGCU and Northwood tied for first-place both recorded 854 strokes overall.
FAU will play next at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville Florida on Monday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 11.
