MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf finished their first round of the Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate on Monday. The Owls scored 286 (-2) to tie for first-place with host Virginia Commonwealth University.

Florida Atlantic's top competitor for the round was freshman Richard Donegan who tied for second-place individually carding 2-under 70, along with Marco Iten of Austin Peay State. Alex Gates, FAU's leading scorer at their last tournament, tied for fifth with teammates Airik Medinis and Derron Peyton, all scoring 72 in the first round.

Clinton Wilhelm and Frank Berzanskis carded rounds of 75, tied for 18th and 80, placing 31st, respectively, to round out the Owls' finishers. Florida Atlantic will continue play today with round 2 at Harmony Golf Preserve.
