Tampa, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's golf team is tied for fifth at the Dick Wittcoff/USF Invitational after firing a second round 300. Freshmen Tommy Suri and Ben Gardner lead the team after finishing 11th and 16th individually on the 6,830-yard, par 71 University of South Florida golf course.
Suri, who shot a career low round of 73 yesterday, fired a second round 75 to move to six-over par, eight strokes behind the leader. Gardner improved three strokes and Anibal Ochoa improved four strokes, as both players shot rounds of 73. Torstein Nevestad and Michael Cleary shot rounds of 79 and 85, respectively. Cris Andersen shot a second round 85 playing unattached.
The Owls fell into a three-way tie for fifth place with Florida Gulf Coast University and Austin Peay State University. Jacksonville State moved into sole possession of first place with a two round score of 580 while USF (590), Virginia Commonwealth (591) and Florida Southern College (594) round out the top five.
Florida Atlantic will conclude play on Sunday, February 22.
