ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic men's golf team is in second place after the first round of Bethune Cookman University's Gary Freeman Invitational on Sunday. The Owls also had five individuals place in the top-20 players list for the round, including Alex Gates who tied for 2nd with 2-over-par 74.
Sophomore Lawrence Hoch tied for 7th place with 3-over-par 75, finishing one place ahead of Richard Donegan who tied for ninth with 4-over-par 76. Clinton Wilhelm scored a 5-over-par 77 tying for 13th and Derron Peyton also placed in top-20 players list tying for 19th.
Florida Atlantic scored a total of 18-over-par 306 for round one. Twelve men's teams are participating in the Gary Freeman Invitational at Halifax Plantation Golf Club which concludes today. FAU's women's golf team is competing in the Gary Freeman Invitational as well.
