Junior (2012-13): Made his season debut at the Rice Intercollegiate...shot 6-over 222 to tie for 30th...carded 72 in his lowest round of the tournament...finished in second at the Gary Freeman BCU Spring Invitational, leading FAU to win the tournament...had a stroke average of 73...shot a 70 in the second round, his lowest round of the season...finished in seventh place at the Benbow Invitational...ended up at 3-over 145 for the tournament...played 20 rounds total for the season.
Sophomore (2011-12): Competed as an individual during the FAU Spring Break Tournament, posting his lowest round of the year in the last round of the tournament (2-over-par 73)...finished at 12-over-par for the tournament...tied for 10th in the one-day event against the U.S. Military Academy.
Freshman (2010-11): Made his collegiate debut at the Mission Hill Intercollegiate, where his second round of 74 was his best round of the season...was even better overall the following week, finishing third on the team and tied for 26th overall with a 13-over-par total at the Stetson/CFSC Invitational.
High School: Qualified for the Florida Men's Amateur Match Play...played in the Future Masters Tournament in Dothan, AL...was team captain of high school team for three years...named Most Valuable Player of his high school team as a sophomore, junior and senior.
Personal: Son of John and Karen Gates...has been playing golf since he was six years old...made a hole in one at age 13.
