Question from Tom
Coach - Could you pass along our congratulations to Franz Joseph for his fine career at FAU and being considered in the NFL draft? As an FAU alumnus I, and probably you as well, was proud to see his face, name, and the FAU logo on Mel Kiper's list. I heard he signed free agent with Oakland - the Raiders are one on my wife's favorite teams and we will be looking forward to seeing him continue with his success there. Please encourage him to keep a good attitude as he starts their program - I have lived in a college town before and have seen a couple of promising players go to NFL camps with a bad attitude (not being drafted high or not at all) and have no chance with their careers (including one who was cut before camp ever opened). We are now looking forward to the 2009 season and have tentative plans to be at Nebraska.

Tom & Elaine

Response from Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger
We appreciate the interest in our individuals and the team. We wish the best for the players. I think they have a 50/50 chance in becoming a member of the NFL.

Question from Jonathan
Hi Coach!
I understand Jeff Blanchard may be out for the season due to injury.

If that's the case, how seriously are you considering Alfred Morris to replace him at starter? I'm reading on the FAU sports sites that he has been the star on the practice fields and today he was the star of the first scrimmage.

Would it make sense to do a two deep as:

1) Willie Rose backed up by Xavier Stinson at FB
2) Alfred Morris backed up by Rolle/Floyd at RB?

Thanks Coach and GO OWLS!

Response from Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger
Well, we are please with the development/potential of Alfred Morris. He has the ability to become a top of the line tailback. We will continue to evaluate through the summer conditioning and weight work. We will not make a decision on positions that are too close to call at this time, but will wait on the deadline of 10 days before Nebraska.
