BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University football ended its 2017 campaign with an 11-3 record, tying the program's all-time best record and the best record since beginning the move to FBS in 2004.
The Owls finished Conference USA play with a perfect 8-0 record, just the fourth team to complete the C-USA season undefeated the first to do so with a championship format.
Speaking of championship format, FAU downed NT in the C-USA Championship, the first to be played at FAU.
FAU then faced Akron in the 2017 CheriBundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl downing the Zips 50-3, one the largest margins of victory in Bowl history.
In the coming weeks, the final NCAA individual rankings will be completed. Devin Singletary is expected to top the list for rushing scores whle Jalen Young and the Owl defenders will be among the nation's leaders for interceptions and special teams units will be among the leaders.
The Owls have rewritten the FAU record books and have raised the bar for future teams, including Azeez Al-Shaair, who is now the program's all-time tackle leader.
