My earliest memories of my father involve football and education. Most of the time, I didn't understand why those two things were so important. For a time, I didn't have a chance for either. When football and an education weren't an option, my father, Michael, was still there for me. Together we fought for those opportunities. Unfortunately, he passed away before he could watch me play college football, but not before I was accepted to FAU.
As his legacy, I'm now responsible for his foundation. It is where I learned to love football and the importance of education. It's called R.E.A.L. team -- standing for Reading, Educating Athletes for Life. He dedicated his time to more than 500 children every summer. That is what I want to do after graduation. Give back to my community and the kids.
